Coast Guard confirms sailor infected with COVID-19

By BBN Staff: The Belize Coast Guard has confirmed it was informed by the Ministry of Health that one of its sailors tested positive for COVID-19.

The sailor is in quarantine and recovering under the supervision of health officials.

The Coast Guard says it has increased its safety measures to contain and minimize the spread of the virus among its ranks. It added that its medical staff is in direct contact with MOH to assist with contact tracing.

“The health and safety of the men and women of the Coast Guard is vital to our continued commitment to the citizenry of this nation,” the Coast Guard statement said.
