By Aaron Humes: With this week’s spike in cases, Belize has set an unwanted record.
At 322 cases as of this morning, Belize is fifth overall for active COVID-19 cases in the Caribbean, passing Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
The top four countries are Haiti, The Bahamas, Suriname and Guyana in that order.
Belize still has comparatively fewer cases than its hard-hit Central American neighbors.
Belizeans are advised to wear their masks properly, avoid unnecessary travel and movement, wash hands frequently, practice social distancing and be smart.
