Cuban Medical Brigade still in country

By BBN Staff: According to the Ministry of Health (MOH) members of the Cuban Medical Brigade that arrived to help Belize with its national COVID-19 response back in March are still in the country deployed at various locations.

Today, Director of Health Services Dr. Marvin Manzanero explained that the majority of them may not still be at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) as at least 11 members of the team were relocated to the Northern Health Region, which includes Orange Walk and Corozal.

“Some were sent to Central Health Region and San Pedro, because that’s where the hot spots are, the rest of them are in Karl Heusner,” Manzanero said. “Not all of them are doctors, I think we need to stress that.”

He added that the team consisted of several nurses, lab technicians and maintenance workers.
