By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health Pablo Marin told the House of Representatives this morning that it is up to all of us to contain COVID-19.
After listing the various villages and towns with cases adding to the current 322, Minister Marin discussed several issues. Some 300 samples remain to be tested.
He called on those awaiting test results to stay at home and wait for their results rather than go out and risk more spread.
He asked fellow parliamentarians not to encourage those not wearing masks or not following the various regulations by paying their fines.
He paid tribute to the frontline workers attending tirelessly to their jobs and led the House in applause for them.
And he asked detractors to keep politics out of the discussion at this time.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow noted that the situation, while worrying, does not justify at this time another complete lockdown of the country, nor at this time the entire Orange Walk District.
He noted that limiting the country only to essential activity exacerbates the already critical condition of the economy.
