By Aaron Humes: Minister Pablo Marin has provided a breakdown of active cases of COVID-19 by district and municipality.
All nine cities and towns have COVID-19 cases as well as multiple villages.
Of the 300 cases cited by Marin, a majority, 172, are in the Belize District and 127 of those are in San Pedro Town. 42 appear in Belize City and three in Caye Caulker.
Next is Orange Walk District with 88, including 21 in Orange Walk Town (23 including the outlying suburbs of Otro Benque and Louisiana Farm). Three villages on lockdown – Guinea Grass (9), Shipyard (13) and Santa Martha (10) – have 32 cases between them.
There are five cases in Corozal Town and a sixth in Altamira area of 20 overall; the others are in outlying villages in the north and central areas of the district.
Half of the Cayo District’s 12 cases are in Belmopan: five in the capital proper and one in the outlying community of Las Flores. Santa Elena, twin of San Ignacio, has one case and Benque Viejo del Carmen two, with Bullet Tree Falls having one case and San Jose Succotz two.
Dangriga and Independence report three cases each and a seventh in Santa Rosa, while Punta Gorda Town has Toledo’s only case.
The grand total of all infected as of Thursday is 356.
