By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed a short while ago that after processing 257 samples today, it has identified 64 new cases of COVID-19 in Belize.
The breakdown of the new cases provided in the COVID-19 update are as follows:
The preliminary breakdown is as follows:
– 3 cases in the Stann Creek district
– 11 cases in the Cayo district
– 11 cases in the Orange Walk District
– 13 cases in the Belize district (excluding San Pedro)
– 26 cases in San Pedro
The Ministry notes that “teams on the ground continue to review the data to determine how many of the cases are related to previously identified clusters”.
According to the COVID-19 update provided, two (2) patients remain ventilated at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) and there is a sick patient at the KHMH that is a highly suspect case of COVID-19. Another two (2) COVID-19 positive patients are hospitalized but stable.
A third COVID-19 patient is in the hospital but not for a COVID related health condition.
The Ministry advises all Belizeans to “please continue to remain safe and avoid unnecessary exposure / travel”.
