By BBN Staff: A total of 78 new cases of COVID-19 was detected in Belize today according to the COVID-19 update released a short while ago by the Ministry of Health.
These 78 cases were detected after a record number of 311 samples were processed today.
The preliminary breakdown of the cases are as follows:
Stann Creek District – 1
Corozal District – 7
Cayo District – 15 (at least 8 are in Belmopan)
Belize District – 55 (30 of which in San Pedro)
The Ministry notes that 6 persons are currently hospitalized at the KHMH, 3 of whom are intubated. Also none of the active COVID-19 cases recovered today.
Health officials are pleading to Belizeans to “continue to stay safe and do ensure that when leaving home, all necessary precautions are taken at all times” as it is “only with a collective effort can we flatten our curve”.
