Global COVID-19 cases now at over 22 million

By BBN Staff: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect people around the world.

Worldometer reports that as of today, total cases are at 22,112,739 around the globe.

There are 6,485,634 active cases and as the number of infections rise, so does the number of deaths.

Deaths due to COVID-19 around the world are at 778,552.

The United States continues to lead global infections now recording over 5.6 million confirmed cases.  Some 173,789 people have died from COVID-19 in the US.

Brazil is next in line for global infections with a total of 3.3 million, with 108,654 people dying from the virus, while India ranks third with 2.7 million cases and 52,280 deaths.

Belize’s standings in the world rankings has changed considerably in a few weeks, moving from within the 190s for global infections to 168.

There were 23 newly confirmed cases last night, putting Belize’s total at 475.
