Homeland Memorial Park providing more options to honor the memory of passed loved ones

By BBN Staff: Homeland Memorial Park, Belize’s first private cemetery, is offering Belizeans more options to honor the final resting place of their loved ones, by establishing the country’s first Columbarium (enclosure for public display of urns).

The company, which has over 20 years experience in offering cemetery services, says that the Columbarium offers a place for the respectful storage of urns containing the cremated remains of loved ones.The Columbariums display the urns in a 1 square foot space, but companion niches are available.

“It provides a unique time capsule to hold the urn and mementos of your beloved ones. Likewise, our Columbarium Garden allows you to intern the ashes of your dearly departed in a small ground crypt within our beautifully landscaped garden,” the company explained.

Israel Marin, managing director of Homeland Memorial Park, explained that the company decided to offer the service after researching and noticing an increasing number of cremations in Belize.

“People were just taking the ashes home or putting them out at sea but there wasn’t anywhere they could keep it and create a memorial for that person,” Marin said.

He also noted that there are increasing instances of Belizeans dying abroad who wished that their remains be sent back to Belize, many of whom are cremated.

While Homeland Memorial Park does not provide funeral or cremation services, the company does offer a wide selection of urns in wood, steel and ceramic, as well as engraved nameplates.
