By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health’s data as of August 16, 2020 shows that 20 people over the age of 65 have contracted COVID-19 in Belize.

Of the 20 patients, 10 are males and 10 are females.

These patients account for 4.4% of the total confirmed cases.

The Ministry of Health notes that morbidity and mortality is more than likely to be in the older age groups or those with chronic conditions such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
