By BBN Staff: As organizations countrywide take more stringent measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Belize Home Caregivers Association (BHCA) has released a new set of revised guidelines for caregivers of elder adults.
The association’s guidelines covered several areas including: precautions to take before visiting clients, precautions before entering a clients home, conduct while in a client’s home, necessary equipment and resources, emergency plans and readiness for clients, establishing protective surveillance for visitors, cleaning, laundry, and procedures if the person being cared for is not infected but is a part of a household that has an infected person.
The guidelines include points such as calling before visiting a client, ensuring that hand sanitizer is frequently utilized, masks be worn at all times and that caregivers should screen themselves prior to any home visits.
“There is always a risk when seeing patients. Please take the necessary precautions to keep yourself safe and protected,” the BCHA said.
The full list of guidelines can be downloaded from the association’s Facebook page.
