By BBN Staff: The Department of Youth Services (DYS) informed today that one of their staff members has tested positive for COVID-19.
DYS says that the officer was in self-quarantine prior to receiving the positive results.
The staff member is doing well, but will remain in quarantine until recovered.
DYS says that staff members who work in the same unit have also been placed in quarantine and have been tested by the Ministry of Health.
DYS notes that COVID-19 safety precautions have been in place at the main office at 55 Regent St. since early May.
“The building has been fully sanitized, and our staff members are spaced out properly to adhere to the social distancing protocols in order to protect themselves, their families and the public as we continue to enhance our safety precautions in the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” the DYS stated.
The Computer Resource Centers, Art Studio, Recording Studio, Music School and Literacy Center are currently closed to the public until further notice.
Virtual courses online are being offered free of charge, which young people are encouraged to visit at www.dysbelize.org/online-trainings.
