Prime Minister: Regulations tightening, but still no total lockdown

By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister Dean Barrow said he would describe ever-tightening regulations regarding the State of Emergency that would be fleshed out in detail on another primetime edition of “Ask the Experts” with Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte on Saturday and go into effect in the wee hours of Sunday.

But once again, he reiterated that these “fall well short” of a total lockdown, citing the opinion of the World Health Organization (WHO) released on Monday that it causes severe economic effects. Even so, he maintained that all options remain on the table if we cannot get a handle on the situation.

Nonetheless, the Prime Minister said that things appear to be trending down if the last few days’ results are any indication, and that only some of the new cases do not appear to be linked back to the original clusters, but even as if there are cases of “contacts of contacts of contacts” being found, we still need to be careful and reform our patterns of behaviour, those which are principally responsible for our current situation.
