By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed the nation a short while ago that at least 11 patients are currently hospitalized across the country due to COVID-19.
There are actually 13 hospitalized patients, but 2 of them are only suspected COVID-19 cases for now. The breakdown of the 13 hospitalized patients are as follows:
– Corozal has one hospitalized case, highly suspect for COVID-19
– Northern Health Region has two hospitalized cases
– Western Health Region has one hospitalized case, highly suspect
– Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) has a total of 9 patients. All 9 are confirmed COVID-19 cases and 4 of these patients are currently on ventilators. The other 5 are non-ventilated patients.
According to the Ministry of Health the KHMH has 16 ventilators for COVID-19 cases, outside of their routine Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
In its COVID-19 update provided a short while ago, the Ministry noted “while the concern is the overall bed capacity beyond just ventilators, we do want to continue to stress the overall importance of prevention as we do want to keep the hospitalization rate at the lowest possible levels”.
The COVID-19 update ended by reminding Belizeans to “please be kind to our health care workers across all settings as they continue to work in COVID-19 times”.
