By Aaron Humes: It would have been very difficult to police today’s planned Congress of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) at the San Ignacio Hotel as it was originally planned, Attorney General (AG) Michael Peyrefitte said on tonight’s edition of Ask the Experts PRIMETIME.
Peyrefitte said he had spoken to outgoing President Sergio Chuc on Friday and to Prime Minister Dean Barrow before Friday’s press conference where the PM made the announcement publicly.
The A.G. said he had suggested the event be moved to the FFB headquarters in Belmopan, with strict supervision by the Police there, and after some earlier pushback, Chuc conceded and made the arrangements.
Today’s Congress thus proceeded and there was no “disrespect” intended by the Federation and Chuc to either himself or the P.M., Peyrefitte said.
According to Chuc, he was re-elected with 90 percent of the vote from the attending delegates and hence will serve another three-year term as FFB’s president.
