KHMH activates Alternate Emergency Area, COVID-unit full to capacity

By BBN Staff: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) has informed that its COVID-19 Isolation Unit has reach its full capacity bringing into effect the hospital’s COVID-Surge Plan.

“The Alternate Emergency Area situated at the Specialist Outpatient Clinic has now been activated,” a statement from the hospital’s authority said.

“Additional suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases will now be managed in the pre-existing Accident & Emergency Unit,” it further noted.

Access to the Alternate & Emergency Area follows the same Triage process currently in place.

The KHMHA also informed the public that only extreme cases will be made a priority at this time.

“If you are experiencing mild flu-like or respiratory symptoms, please call the toll’free MOH hotline (0-800-664-2273) or your nearest Primary Health Care facility for further assistance and guidance.”
