BREAKING: 18 new positive cases of COVID-19 identified today

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed a short while ago that after processing a total of 165 samples, 18 new positive cases of COVID-19 were identified today.

The preliminary breakdown of the 18 cases is as follows:

Orange Walk: 4

Belize District: 7 (3 in city, 1 in Caye Caulker, San Pedro 3)

Cayo District: 5 (all in Belmopan)

Stann Creek: 1

Toledo: 1 (Border Jumper)

Health authorities are awaiting test results from a patient who was transferred from San Felipe, Orange Walk to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) but died on arrival. According to the authorities this individual “is a highly suspect case for COVID-19″.

The Ministry says that they will be providing updates throughout the rest of the day and advises Belizeans to ” please continue to remain safe and exercise all the prevention measures at all time”.
