By Aaron Humes: A total of nine pregnant women countrywide have been diagnosed countrywide with COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic here, three of whom have delivered.
One of these was a repatriation case and the others were close contacts of other cases.
Women over 35 are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 if pregnant.
However, there is no hard evidence of mother to child transmission although research is ongoing.
In addition to the usual precautions with mask wearing and social distancing, pregnant women should take it easy and stay at home if possible, says Dr. Natalia Beer, and get others to take care of their needs.
Also, avoid any sick persons. She recommended some natural remedies for those with any cough and cold symptoms including fever grass, garlic and so on.
As for prenatal care, the Ministry is limiting this to one per trimester before birth.
