By BBN Staff: Eight-time Olympic gold medalist and Jamaican athletics icon Usain Bolt tested positive for COVID-19 after hosting a party for his 34th birthday last Friday, CNN reports.
Bolt, who had streamed footage of the party, which showed blatant violations of Jamaica’s COVID-19 regulations, tested positive on Saturday.
Bolt, the holder of two world records for the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, is reportedly asymptomatic and is complying with Jamaica’s required health protocols including remaining in quarantine.
“I did a test on Saturday because I have work,” Bolt said via social media. “I’m trying to be responsible so I’m going to stay in and stay in for my friends. Also, I’m having no symptoms.” He added, “I’m going to quarantine myself and wait to see what the protocol is … until then … I’m quarantined by myself and just taking it easy. Be safe out there.”
Several international celebrities reportedly attended Bolt’s party, including football star Raheem Sterling, who plays for Manchester City and is on the roster for upcoming games against Iceland and Denmark.
