People’s United Party discusses #planBelize for Health

By Aaron Humes: Two weeks ago, the Opposition People’s United Party (PUP) shared its vision and plans for Education reform in Belize if elected in the forthcoming General Election.

Today, on a virtual platform, it does the same for health, ironically during a National State of Emergency due to COVID-19.

Party Leader John Briceno is hosting from a virtual stage somewhere in the City with contributions from faithful PUP’s nationwide.

Expected on the agenda are expansion and equipment of the regional hospitals and clinics and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and plans to roll out National Health Insurance (NHI) countrywide.

An opening video lists the current Government’s sins, dating back to the infamous deaths of babies from an invasive bacteria in the KHMH pediatric intensive care unit.

Briceno then tied it to the current COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen KHMH reach capacity and Belizeans become increasingly fearful.
