“Doubtful” PSE returns next year; no grades in first month

Posted: Thursday, August 27, 2020. 2:18 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Primary School Examination (PSE) was not administered this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And Chief Education Officer Dr. Carol Babb said she doubts it will be given again next year.

There had been talk of using this year’s examinations as a base for assessment but there is still too much uncertainty over the pandemic to follow up.

Decisions still need to be taken on administration of the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), which was held later than usual.

Along those lines, the Ministry of Education is discouraging grading of the first month of work as this is a learning recovery period. Grades may be introduced later on.
