By BBN Staff: The COVID-19 pandemic has not shown any signs of slowing down, with global infections owning excess if 24 million.
Worldometer reports that as of 9:00 a.m. today, August 27, 2020, the total number of global infections stood at 24,398,973.
Global deaths from COVID-19 continue to climb and have now gone over 831,000, while over 16.9 million have recovered from the virus.
Of the currently active cases, the split remains at 99 percent of patients (6,584,424) listed as mild, while 1 percent of patients (61,531) are listed as serious or critical.
The United States, the worst-hit country in the world by the virus, has surpassed 6 million infections and over 183,000 deaths. Brazil is the second mist hit country, with 3.722 million cases and 117,000 deaths.
Belize currently has 760 confirmed cases, with 712 of them being reported in the month of August alone. There have also been 11 lives lost to COVID-19 in Belize.
