By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a reported robbery of a Guatemalan farmer and his entire family on the El Pilar Road near Bullet Tree Falls, Cayo District that occurred on Thursday night.
Around 7:10 pm, Byron Manuel Guevara, 44, of Bullet Tree Falls Village said he was driving his 1985 red 2 door Toyota pickup bearing license plates number BVO-A-00533 valued at $5,000 along with his family on El Pilar Road, about 1/4 miles from Bullet Tree Falls Village. That is when he saw three men walk out from nearby bushes with their shirts covering their faces. All three persons were armed. One approached Guevara, demanded money and for him and his family to exit the vehicle.
Guevara complied and handed over his wallet containing $500 and fled into the bushes with his family. The trio got in and drove off toward Bullet Tree Falls Village. Quick police response led them to an area off Calla Creek/Santa Rosa Road where the vehicle was recovered.
Investigation continues.
