By BBN Staff: More than 47,000 people were left without electricity this morning as Tropical Storm Laura moved through Arkansas, according to KATV Associated Press.

Two tornadoes also touched down in Arkansas causing damages to the Baptist Church and a life center next to the church in Lake City.

In Jonesboro, the tornado caused a gas line rupture and a woman was rescued after being trapped when winds blew a tree limb on her home.

Several homes were damaged due to fallen trees.

Overnight, laura made landfall in Louisiana as a powerful category 4 hurricane and maintained hurricen strength for 11 hours before being downgraded to a tropical storm.

Six people have reportedly lost their lives.
