Mexico records 3rd highest number of deaths in world due to COVID-19

By BBN Staff: As the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries are suffering the devastating loss of lives among other financial and humanitarian crisis.

According to Worldometer, the United States of America remains the country with the first highest death rate due to COVID-19. The US has recorded 186,167 deaths to the virus.

The country with the second-highest death toll is Brazil with 119,594 deaths to the virus.

While neighboring Mexico has recorded the 3rd highest death toll due to COVID-19 with 63,146 losing their lives to the virus.

Over 6 million people in the USA are infected with COVID-19 and over 3 million in Brazil.

India remains the country with the third-highest number of infected cases with a count of over 3 million.

And, the number of infected cases in Mexico continues to rise with 585,738 people testing positive for the virus.

In addition to the impending crisis brought forth by COVID-19, the country’s economy is facing a “high degree of uncertainty” because of the impact that the virus containment measures will have, the central bank of Mexico said in a report.
