More than 17 million have recovered from COVID-19

By BBN Staff: While the global count for COVID-19 now stands above 25.125 million cases, more than 17.562  million people have managed to recover from the virus, reports Worldometer.

The latest COVID-19 statistics, as of 7:a.m. today, August 30, 2020, says that there have been 18,409,619 closed cases globally. Of those closed cases, 847,531people have died from the virus (5 percent), and 17,562,088 (95 percent) have recovered.

Currently, there are more than 6.805 million active cases with 1 percent of those (61,303) listed as either serious or critical, and 99 percent (over 6.744 million) listed as mild.

The United States, Brazil, and India continue to lead global infections, with 6.1 million, 3.8 million, and 3.5 million cases respectively. Notably, despite Mexico being ranked 8th globally for infections, the country has surpassed India for the third-highest number of COVID-19 deaths in the world (63,819).

The latest data from Belize’s Ministry of Health, says that the country has 964 cases with 13 deaths and 115  recoveries. Notably, 916 of the total cases were detected in the month of August alone.
