Ministry of Health: “Ivermectin for human use not proven as prophylactic medication”

By BBN Staff: The Office of the Director of Health Services (DHS) issued a statement following the warning issued by Reimers Feed Mill of customers purchasing ivermectin for COVID-19 treatment. Ivermectin, however, is labeled for use in livestock.

The DHS noted that ivermectin approved for animal use is different to the one approved for use in humans.

DHS said that there are reports that persons have been procuring this as a ‘prophylaxis’ for COVID-19.

“Please note that ivermectin for human use HAS NOT BEEN proven to work as a prophylactic medication and SHOULD NOT be used as a prevention measure,” the DHS stated.
