Over 6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US

By BBN Staff: The United States of America has now surpassed 6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, the BBC reports.

The John Hopkins University noted that the amount is almost a quarter of the world’s total.

Statistics from Worldometer indicate that confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US  are now at 6,202,476.

In less than a month, the USA confirmed over 1 million new infections.

Over 187,000 people in the US have died due to the virus.

The USA continues to be the country in the world with the most coronavirus cases and increasing death toll, followed by Brazil, India and Mexico.

According to the BBC, infection rate in the United Kingdom, France and Spain have dropped .

The World Health Organization noted that 33 potential vaccines are up for clinical trial and 143 more are in pre-clinical evaluation.

US authorities say that the country is coping well with the pandemic and are hoping to see a drop in cases, deaths and hospitalizations.
