51 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Ministry of Health, total number of cases passes 1100

By Aaron Humes: With 51 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, Belize’s total number of COVID-19 cases is at 1,101. However the number of active cases is at 848, with 240 recovering and 13 dead.

Orange Walk District shows 23 cases mostly in the northern and western villages as well as Orange Walk Town. The District has the most overall cases with 392.

For the first time cases are beginning to appear in the Belize River Valley as well as Belize City and San Pedro Town for a total of 14 in the Belize District.

Corozal shows 6 cases, Cayo District – 5 and Stann Creek District – 3, including a reported border jumper.

Twenty seven (27) patients are reported recovered bringing the total of recovered patients to 240.

There are 3 intubated patients at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and one highly suspect case at KHMH that also requires ventilation support.

The Ministry says, “While we continue preparations for [Hurricane] Nana, we urge all to ensure that necessary precautions in terms of not letting our guard down.”
