Nana continues toward Belize; no change in strength

Posted: Wednesday, September 2, 2020. 12:31 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Tropical Storm Nana continues on a western track toward Belize but has not changed in wind strength, though it is projected to do so.

As of 12 noon, the center of Nana was located 215 miles east of Belize City with top winds of 60 miles per hour.

The system is moving west at 16 per hour. Nana is forecasted to hit Belize’s coast later tonight or early Thursday morning as a minimal Category 1 hurricane.

It would be the first such hurricane since Earl in 2016.

The coast of Belize from Belize City southward is under hurricane warning; the north coast is under hurricane watch, meaning the storm is forecast to strike within 24 hours.

Please stay tuned for the latest updates as we continue to track the storm.
