Belize Met Service: Weather to become unstable as tropical wave approaches

The National Meteorological Service of Belize (Met Service) says that moist and unstable conditions will persist ahead of an approaching tropical wave.

The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy with sunny breaks today and mostly cloudy tonight. A few showers and thunderstorms will occur over most areas today, increasing over coastal and offshore areas tonight before spreading inland.

“A flood warning remains in effect for communities near rivers and streams in the south,” the Met Service said.

Today’s temperature highs will range from 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 92 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 74 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 66 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be gusty; blowing East Northeast between 10-20 knots and the sea state will be choppy.

High tide will come in at 11:09 a.m. and low tide will begin at 5:46 p.m.

The sun will set at 6:03 p.m. and the moon will rise at 7:54 p.m.
