By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Port Authority (BPA) gave the Port of Belize Limited (PBL) approval to resume operations.

The BPA has issued an order for the PBL to cease operations due to the approach of Hurricane Nana which hit Belize on Wednesday night.

“The Belize Port Authority has also received reports which indicate that the ports experienced no structural damage. In accordance with the standards of operation of ports and under the authority granted by the Belize Port Authority Act, the order to close port operations is hereby cancelled,” the BPA said.

Hurricane Nana made landfall in southern Belize around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, causing damages to homes, buildings, and farms, but did not cause any injuries or casualties.
