Butane gas prices increase today

Posted: Saturday, September 5, 2020. 9:19 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Supplies Control Unit (SCU) informed yesterday of the new prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) known in Belize as “Butane” that come into effect today, September 5, 2020.

The Belize Bureu of Standards (BBS) notes that the prices reflect the sale by wholesale volume and the retail sale by volume in rural and urban areas.

The wholesale price in all Districts in Belize is $2.67 per gallon.

The retail price is $4.37 per gallon in all rural areas and $4.27 per gallon in all towns.

“The monthly increase seen in September is due to fluctuations in acquisition prices for LPG. This is a result of upward pressure on crude oil and its derivatives,” the BBS noted.

The BBS says that the prices established for imported LPG are based on the mixtures of 70:30 (Propane: Butane) only as per requirement of the Belize National Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) BZS 21:2012.
