Santa Elena housewife’s home hit in gun attack

By Aaron Humes: 26-year-old Debbidee Clarke of Carillo Puerto Avenue, Santa Elena Town, Cayo District is hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an apparent ambush at home.

Around 7 p.m. Sunday night, Clarke said she was at home when she heard what sounded like firecrackers. She quickly realized that it was gunfire and started to move her children to safety, but not before sustaining three gunshot wounds herself.

Clarke was hit to the upper part of the left arm, just above the elbow, a second wound to the lower left arm, just below the elbow and the third to the left shoulder area. She was unable to see the gunman.

Police have reviewed video surveillance footage from the area which revealed that a lone gunman on a motorcycle passed by the residence of Ms. Clarke and fired the shots. She remains in a stable condition. Police investigations continue.
