Belize Tax Service: Jumoke Castro no longer employed

Posted: Tuesday, September 8, 2020. 11:51 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Belize Tax Service informed that the son of NEMO Minister, Edmond Castro, Jumoke Castro is no longer employed by the Belize Tax Service.

In January of this year, Castro was placed on administrative leave after making comments threatening sexual violence against a member of the media.

Those comments garnered widespread condemnation from individuals, NGO’s, political third parties, media houses and were a topic of discussion in parliament.

Following that, Castro was taken before a disciplinary committee of the Public Service Commission for complaints made against him.

The notice issued today informs that as of September 7, 2020, Castro, former Bailiff, is no longer an employee of the department and not authorized to perform functions or duties for and on behalf of the department.
