Voter registration still ongoing; Last day to register is Sept 11th, 2020

By BBN Staff: Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the major political parties in Belize have continued with their online campaigns and virtual meetings.

 However, no official date has been set for the upcoming general elections.  

A major activity leading up to any election is the registration and transfer of voters.

During the months of July and August, electors can apply to be transferred from one electoral division to another at their respective Elections and Boundaries Office. Nonetheless, electors who have moved from one residence to another and reside in the new Division for at least two (2) months immediately prior to the date of application are the only ones qualified to transfer their votes.

The Elections and Boundaries Department urges all electors who register to provide true and accurate information as it is an offence to give false information.

The last day to register to vote in the next general elections is September 11, 2020. Quаlіfіеd реrѕоnѕ аrе rеmіndеd thаt аѕ а сіtіzеn уоu hаvе а rіght tо раrtісіраtе іn thе еlесtоrаl рrосеѕѕ. Thus, voters who haven’t registered are encouraged to do so.
