Two more COVID-19 deaths reported, total increases to 18

Posted: Wednesday, September 9, 2020. 6:31 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health has reported two more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the national total to 18.

It said in a statement this evening that the dead were men hospitalized respectively at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City.

No further details were provided on their history or conditions prior to deaths.

From 81 samples processed today, just four new cases were reported, all in the village of Ladyville, Belize District.

Five other patients have been classified as recovered.

As the nation observes St. George’s Caye Day tomorrow, Thursday, the Ministry asks: “Please continue to exercise all prevention measures, especially with a National Holiday when we need to continue to remain vigilant for SARS-Cov2. Stay safe all.”

We will continue to monitor developments.
