Belize City shop owner stabbed in the face

By BBN Staff: A Belize City shop owner was stabbed in the face last night, reportedly by someone he was familiar with.

Alfonso Mario Ayuso, 60, was reportedly socializing with a man and two women around 2:45 a.m. when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the face.

Ayuso reportedly pulled a gun and fired a shot, but no one was hit.

He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he was treated for a wound to the left cheek.

Police are investigating.
