By Aaron Humes: During his presentation on the fourth General Revenue Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2020, Rodwell Ferguson, PUP area representative for Stann Creek West, suggested that general elections will be called sooner rather than later.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow has previously indicated that on the current timeline, general elections will be called “in the first week of November,” the likely date being Wednesday, November 4.

But that is not confirmed, as he replied to Ferguson today when the latter said he had suggested he would not go “beyond the fourth of November;” as he pointed out, he is under no obligation to reveal the election date at any point until he is ready to.

However, he did confirm that there will be at least one more House meeting, and the second in the usually quiet month of September, set for next Friday, September 25.
