By Aaron Humes: Citing his own search of Amazon, Cayo South area representative Julius Espat said the Government could have sourced laptops for US $99.
But his wider point is that the Government has flouted the rules on finance for its own ends.
The head of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) accused the Government side of continuing to delay the handing over of the Committee’s report.
Without audits of key Government programs, Espat said, the people will not know who spent what, when, where, how, and why.
He wondered whether the Executive is responsible for manipulating the schedule and using COVID “as an excuse”, or the Legislature for allowing it to happen, and the result, he concluded, has left the country contemptuous of all Government initiatives.
The back and forth seen in the House today is a result of “frustration” of the Opposition benches, Espat said, and to him it is all “wrong, unprofessional and undemocratic.”
