Wil Maheia declares candidacy for Fort George division

Posted: Thursday, September 17, 2020. 3:16 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Deputy Leader of the Belize Progressive Party (BPP) Wil Maheia will challenge the major parties in the smallest of Belize’s electoral divisions, Fort George.

Maheia is a life-long resident of Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District, but reckons his chances of election are greater in the Old Capital. Note that candidates are not required to live in their respective divisions, though voters are.

As well as highlighting the relative importance of votes related to division size, Maheia said it’s time for the Green “to get a run.”
