Caribbean has more than 175,000 cases of COVID-19

By BBN Staff: The global number of COVID-19 infections stands at over 30 million according to Worldometer, and Caribbean countries collectively represent over 175,000 of that amount.

The Caribbean media outlet Loop, reported this week that the total number of confirmed cases shared between all Caribbean countries stands at 175,685.

The breakdown of infections, deaths, and recoveries is as follows:

Dominican Republic- 104,803 cases, 1,998 deaths, 78,387 recovered

Puerto Rico- 18,252 cases, 570 deaths

French Guiana- 9,578 cases, 64 deaths, 9,202 recovered

Haiti- 8,530 cases, 220 deaths, 6181 recovered

Cuba- 4,803 cases, 108 deaths, 4,119 recovered

Suriname- 4,625 cases, 95 deaths, 3,996 recovered

Jamaica- 4,042 cases, 46 deaths, 1,163 recovered

Trinidad and Tobago- 3,293 cases, 57 deaths, 810 recovered

Aruba- 3,152 cases, 22 deaths, 1,610 recovered

Guadeloupe- 3,080 cases, 24 deaths, 837 recovered

Bahamas- 3,032 cases, 69 deaths, 1,482 recovered

Guyana- 1,958 cases, 58 deaths, 1,302 recovered

Belize- 1,528 cases, 19 deaths, 663 recovered

US Virgin Islands- 1,232 cases, 19 deaths, 1,170 recovered

Martinique- 1,122 cases, 18 deaths, 98 recovered

Turks and Caicos- 650 cases, 5 deaths, 557 recovered

Sint Maarten- 549 cases, 19 deaths, 468 recovered

Saint Martin- 330 cases, 6 deaths, 206 recovered

Cayman Islands- 208 cases, 1 death, 204 recovered

Barbados- 184 cases, 7 deaths, 169 recovered

Bermuda- 177 cases, 9 deaths, 164 recovered

Curacao- 169 cases, 1 death, 61 recovered

Antigua and Barbuda- 95 cases, 3 deaths, 91 recovered

British Virgin Islands- 66 cases, 1 death, 37 recovered

St Vincent and the Grenadines- 64 cases, 62 recovered

Saint Lucia- 27 cases, 26 recovered

Grenada- 24 cases, 24 recovered

Dominica- 24 cases, 18 recovered

Saint Barthelemy- 23 cases, 16 recovered

Saint Kitts and Nevis- 17 cases, 17 recovered

Bonaire- 16 cases, 1 death, 8 recovered

Montserrat- 13 cases, 1 death, 12 recovered

Sint Eustatius- 11 cases, 4 recovered

Saba- 5 cases, 5 recovered

Anguilla- 3 cases, 3 recovered.

The Ministry of Health is expected to issue an update on Belize’s COVID-19 situation later today.
