By BBN Staff: The PUP tonight launched its women and family agenda during a virtual presentation by leader John Briceno and women leaders and professionals of Belize.
Briceno was joined tonight by Chair of the United Women’s Group (UWG) Erica Jang, journalist Zoila Palma, former UB lecturer Sharon Palacio and Belize Rural South standard bearer, Andre Perez.
During the discussions about the plans and policies that the PUP has included in its #PlanBelize campaign, Briceno spoke about the social implications of building family unity, resilience and the creation of programs to support and assist families.
Briceno emphasized the importance of family and community support to build a better Belize for everyone.
Palacio shared that the women and family agenda caters for all Belizean families in providing support and opportunities.
Palma added that the PUP’s bill of rights will assist Belizean families with access to adequate healthcare, education and access to house lots.
Jang emphasized the importance of the family as a baseline of any community and the plans to empower women.
“The PUP perceives the family as the bedrock for our development,” Briceno said.
“The next PUP Government is duty bound that Belizean women and girls have access to national health insurance. We will empower them to greater economic opportunities,” Briceno added.
The PUP’s plan focuses on putting family at the center of national development.
