Ministry of Health wishes Belize a Happy Independence Day, encourages people to stay safe

MOH Independence Day Message

Posted: Sunday, September 20, 2020. 12:44 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Safety is at the core of the Ministry of Health’s (MOH)’s Independence Day message to Belizeans as the country and the world continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Heading into Belize’s 39th anniversary as an independent nation, the MOH called on Belizeans to show their patriotism this Independence Day by adhering to all health and safety guidelines developed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These guidelines include washing and sanitizing hands frequently and wearing a mask while out in public.

“Happy 39th birthday Belize. While we extend a safe Independence weekend to all Belizeans, we want you to continue to be safe,” the Ministry said. “Don’t gather in crowds, try to maintain a safe distance from others and the best way to show your patriotism is by STAYING HOME unless you absolutely need to be out.”

Under the current guidelines, Belizeans are required by law to wear masks in public, maintain social distancing of six feet apart while in public places, businesses, and government offices, and shall not gather in groups of more than ten persons at a time.
