Teenager in van runs over and kills 14-month-old baby

By BBN Staff: A teenager, 17, is in police custody after he ran over a 14-month-old baby with a van, killing the child on impact, in the Corozal district yesterday.

The incident happened shortly before noon yesterday at the village Camp 39 Little Belize.

Reports are the teenager was driving the vehicle accompanied by an adult and pulled into an open yard and was about to drive off again, not noticing that the baby was playing in the yard in front of the van. The teenager then ran over the baby and stopped due to the sound of the impact.

Police have since served the teenager with a notice of intended prosecution.
