Independence Day ceremony recognizes “Airwing Four”

Posted: Monday, September 21, 2020. 11:17 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Major Adrian Ramirez, Commanding Officer of Belize Defence Force Air Wing; Major Radford Baeza, Second-in-Command; Corporal Reynaldo Choco, and Corporal Yassir Mendez, deceased, were recognized this morning during Independence Day ceremonies in Belmopan.

The four were participating in an operation in the southern Belize District at the end of February when their helicopter crashed in the Gales Point Lagoon.

An investigation by authorities concluded that pilot error was the cause.

The Government continues to work on providing compensation for their grieving families.
