By Aaron Humes: City News Service via KNBC-TV reports that Belizean Shawnte Enriquez and her partner (also Belizean) crashed early Sunday morning and burned to death on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Los Angeles.
The incident took place around 3:20 a.m. Los Angeles time, an hour behind Belize time in the area of King and Crenshaw Boulevards, in an area Los Angeles police said had a lot of construction going on.
The motorist, not identified, was going westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when the vehicle struck a center median and caught fire. The motorist and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the location took no one to any area hospitals, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
