By Aaron Humes: The management of Cellular World Limited has responded to recent social media posts it deems “defamatory” and “libelous.”
It says it is consulting its attorneys with a view to preventing the continued spread of the posts and accompanying “fictitious documents” being circulated.
The Ministry of Education has previously said it has not presented a contract to the company despite it winning the single-source procurement bidding, but has quoted a price of $7.6 million to purchase 15,500 tablets for primary and secondary school students to facilitate the e-learning program.
After some boasting about its long-standing reputation for quality service, the release discusses Cellular World’s winning bid, the centerpiece of which is the Logic Mobility T10L tablet.
Its specifications are a high-definition (HD) 1280×800 resolution screen; Octacore 1.6 gigahertz (Ghz) speed; 32-gigabyte (GB) ROM memory and 2 GB RAM memory; long-lasting Li-Ion battery; dual sim 2G-4GLTE bandwidth and front and rear camera.
It is adding a microphone headset; Bluetooth keyboard; foldable tablet case and pre-loaded Microsoft Office and other educational software, all backed by a three-year limited warranty.
Cellular World promises a superior and exceptional product for youths to use.
There is no timeline for the procuring and distribution of the tablets as high schools are set to resume by October 5.
