Paid Contribution: Dr. Simeon Coc is a proud son of the South. A hero for many who have invested their all into their children’s education to allow them to the opportunity of attaining a quality standard of life.

Dr. Coc’s humble upbringing in San Antonio Village, Toledo molded his fiery determination, community spirit, and his deep appreciation for education.

In spite of seemingly insurmountable financial difficulties, he was able to complete primary school in San Antonio Village, and then high school at St. Peter Claver College. Soon after, he started his teaching career, which he soon realized was his lifelong calling.

Dr. Coc dedicated all of his energy and his little savings to develop his teaching career and to become a trained teacher. He attained his teaching diploma in 1986, and then a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1991.

Dr. Coc evolved into a household name in Southern Belize in the 90s. His empathetic approach to teaching was a success. His willingness to invest extra time and support in each student has resulted in countless of his students going on to become high achievers. Of no surprise to non, Dr. Coc was elevated to the position of a primary school principal where he successfully improved the school’s promotion and completion rates.

After once again departing Belize for studies, he returned with a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership – and put it to good use when he became the Principal of Julian Cho Techincal High School in 2000, a position he has held until July 2019. In 2012, he earned his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership and was recognized as the Outstanding School Leader of the Year, a result of his exceptional performance at Julian Cho Technical High School.

His trademark commitment to quality delivery of education and his ‘no child left behind’ policy has made Julian Cho Technical High School a pride of Southern Belize, and a model educational institution for all of Belize.

Dr. Coc often mentions that access to education and educational achievements have elevated him out of dire circumstances and have allowed him to in turn allow others to uplift their lives. His venture into politics is one driven by his desire to accelerate the development of Toledo, with education and social services being the driving forces for a very hardworking and deserving population of people.

His vision for Toledo West prioritizes improved main and farm roads, the opening of new feeder roads, opening of additional health centers, wider electrification, greater financial support for small farmers, and the continued expansion of educational assistance for residents.

Dr. Simeon Coc will make an exceptional Area Representative for the people of Toledo West!
