Paid Contribution: John August Jr. was born in the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena In 1978. John developed close friendships and some popularity through Cayo when he started selling newspapers, and for his involvement at his parents’ business, Martha’s Guest House. People noted his quiet yet friendly, respectful, and hardworking spirit.
After completing his degree in English, Johnito, as he is fondly called in the Twin Towns, in his adult life, has served as the Chairman of the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust and has led remarkable charitable projects all over Belize. He also serves as a board member of the Recondev in Belmopan and was chairman of the UDP Cayo North Committee.
In March 2006 John August was elected as Mayor of the Twin Towns at only 27 years old and performed with remarkable distinction. His responsible leadership of the municipality allowed him to serve as Mayor for three consecutive terms, during which time the municipality enjoyed an astonishing boom in development.
In November 2018 John became the UDP’s Standard Bearer for the Cayo North East constituency, his home, and looks forward to the opportunity to continue serving the great people of the division.
